The National Military Park,
near Blacksburg South Carolina, preserves the site of the Kings Mountain battle of October 7th, 1780 between patriot militia and combined British and loyalist forces. The battle was the first of four in South Carolina and North Carolina which drove the British to Yorktown Virginia and victory in the Revoluntionary War.
