Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site

The Allegheny Portage Railroad linked the eastern part of the Mainline Canal at Hollidaysburg, PA to the western part at Johnstown, PA. The park includes the Visitor Center, Incline Plane 6, Engine House 6, the Lemon House on Cresson Summit built in 1832, and the Staple Bend Tunnel.

Fort Necessity National Battlefield

The battle at Fort Necessity in the summer of 1754 was the opening action of the French and Indian War. The park consists of three units: the main unit which includes the battlefield, the reconstructed fort and earth work, Mount Washington Tavern, and the visitor center; the Braddock grave unit, one mile west; and the Jumonville Glen unit, seven miles west.
